We’re looking for a

Junior Accountant

Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you’ll work within a small team, affording you the opportunity to be exposed to the end-to-end accounting process. You’ll be integral in helping the team to drive efficiencies by further streamlining and automating finance procedures. This role combines on-the-job learning with formal sponsored development, offering a solid foundation for a career  in finance. What you will help us do

You’ll be asked  to carry out the following specific actions:

Run SUN system processes, such as transfer desk for consolidation and revaluation of entities with full reconciliation of outputs

Assist in testing and implementation of ongoing SUN system projects

Produce SUN reports to support reconciliations and extract data for use in internal committee packs

Help the finance team to develop and maintain processes, accounting policies and

procedure manuals (this will also feed into a live SOX project)

Provide cover for the accounts assistants 

Assist the finance team with regulatory reporting submissions (mainly the creation  of CSV

files to upload to the Lloyd’s core market returns site) and manage the compliance timetable


What you require for the job

As a Junior Accountant, you will be expected to possess the following experience, technical skills

and personal  characteristics: 

Proven bookkeeping experience – base entries and reconciliations

Sound  knowledge  of profit and loss and balance sheet  statements

Intermediate Excel skills

Comfortable working on and navigating accountancy systems

Flexible and happy to work within a small team

Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with colleagues, auditors and business partners

Desire to further develop accountancy knowledge by studying towards a chartered accounting

qualification via a structured apprenticeship programme

Qualified AAT or foundation level ACCA required

Recent  experience in using Sun Accounts  would be of benefit
